I recently came across an article that indicated how to get 3 Free PR 8 links to your website, and I thought I’d share.

See below the step by step process:

1. eHow.com (PR 8 )

• Visit eHow.com and click the “Join Now” button on the top right
• Fill in the form and click “Register Now”
• Login and click “Edit Profile”
• Make sure that you put your website URL in “Web Site” box and also write a sentence or two in the “About Me Box” – include your website URL with your keywords in the anchor text.
• Click the “Save Changes” button and check everything looks ok by clicking the “see my public profile” button.

2.Blogger.com (PR 8 ) This part of the task does not involve setting up a blog, it is simply a way to get a backlink.

• If you don’t already have a Google account create one.
• Login to Blogger.com with your Google account
• “Edit Profile”
• There is a space to add our website but this is a nofollow link (not counted as a backlink). BUT, if you edit the “About Me” section you can add your website and anchor text and get a backlink.
• “Save Profile”

3) StatCounter.com (PR 8 ) – backlink from the forum.

• Visit the Statcounter Forum and register
• Login and click on your username, then click on “user cpanel” and then on “edit your details”
• Enter your website URL in the “Your Home Page” box
• Scroll down and click “Save Changes”
• If you can make a post in the statcounter forum as well this will help to get your profile page indexed more quickly, but you do not have to do this.

1. Log in to your Gmail account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP.

1. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
2. Choose the action you’d like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
3. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.

2.Set up a new account

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts…
3. Click Add a new e-mail account, and click Next.
4. Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click Next.
5. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

User Information
Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.
Email Address: Enter your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)

Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

Login Information
User Name: Enter your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
Password: Enter your Gmail password

1. Click More Settings… and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
2. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3). Make sure the Incoming Server (POP3) number is 995.
4. Check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Test Account Settings… After receiving Congratulations! All tests completed successfully, click Close.
7. Click Next, and then click Finish.
8. Download the latest updates for Outlook from Microsoft. This will help prevent the most common Outlook errors Gmail users see.

Congratulations! You’re done configuring your client to send and retrieve Gmail messages.

3. Common Outlook Express Errors

• Error: “Your account is not enabled for POP access. Please visit your Gmail settings page and enable your account for POP access.”
  To resolve this issue, enable POP in your email account settings
• Error: “The connection to the server has failed. Server: ‘pop.gmail.com’. Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number 0x800CCC0E”
  To resolve this issue, check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) for the POP server
• Error: “530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. Port 465, Secure SSL: No, Server Error: 530, Error number 0x800CCC78”
  To resolve this issue, check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) for the SMTP server
• Error: “The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender’s e-mail address. Protocol SMTP, Server Response: ‘530 5.5.1 Authentication Required.’ Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 530, Error number 0x800CCC78”
  To resolve this issue, check the box next to My server requires authentication
• Error: “Your password was rejected. ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.”
  To resolve this issue, verify your password and then clear the captcha
